A Website

       I like the website www.memoriachilena.com, because I think it’s a really useful site for all the information and documents that have keep inside, like a digital library. The website has a lot of information of different kind of aspects of the Chilean culture and the Chilean history. Some of the documents on his database are historical archives, sources for investigations, images, books, maps, sound recordings and others. The site collaborates with the National Library of Chile and also the DIBAM, so they could bring closer to the community his collections of books, documents and sources with the internet and the digital media.   

           I discover the site some years ago while I was searching for a book of a Chilean writer in Google and I found it in www.memoriachilena.cl that it have it complete in a PDF. In this aspect the site has digitalized in a PDF format some important works and documents, like firsts editions of a book or a rare image or photography.

          I visit the site every time I need to investigate about some aspect of the Chilean history and, specially, when I want to know about some author or writer, or when I search for a Chilean book or document.         

Valdivia

The last time I went to the city of Valdivia it was in 2012. I didn’t went to there since I was a child of eight or nine year old. I don’t travel so much, so when I can,  I enjoy too much going to the south of Chile.

            My uncle, Carlos, live there since he went to study at the Universidad Austral when he was young, so I stay with him, in his house with he, my aunt María Angélica, and my cousin Juan Carlos. It’s a little house, but  it’s too comfortable and it’s really nice stay there when the strong rain of Valdivia comes down.

            The city of Valdivia it’s nice place to walk.  The streets are quiet and the lakes are really beautiful. When I went to there they were celebrating the ‘‘Valdivian Week’’, so the city was in party. I went with my family and we have a lot of fun.

            Valdivia it’s a place that I like for a lot of things, like the cold and cloudy weather, the beauty of the streets and the lakes, the affability of the people, the cultural life in the days and the nights, and the personal thing of have part of my family that I don’t see constantly there.        

About myself

            My name is Diego and I was born in Santiago in 1995. I have eighteen year old. I am a sociology student in the Universidad de Chile. I live with my two parents and my two sisters.

            The things that I most like to do is read, listen music, see movies, and, in general, different kind of arts. Some of my favorite writers are Kafka, Dostoievski, Roberto Arlt, Rainer Maria Rilke, César Vallejo, Baudelaire, Enrique Lihn, and others. In music I like blues, jazz, rock, folk and some of classical music; I feel passion for some musicians like Neil Young, The Beatles, Robert Johnson, Miles Davis, Bach or Stranvinski.  My favorite movies are Apocalypse Now of Francis Ford Coppola and A streetcar named Desire of Elia Kazan.

            I am, in general, interested for the different cultural expressions of the humanity, and I like learn all kind of knowledge, especially humanities.
